"I had decided to try PT for my shoulder pain, as my doctor had suggested, and I had heard good things about Hess PT. It helped that Hess PT offered a free initial evaluation. At the Kennedy Township office, Dr. Van did an assessment and explained how PT could help me feel better. Dr. Julie was able to work with me, according to my work schedule. She not only addressed the issue I initially presented, she also provided helpful exercises for other issues I mentioned during our sessions. Overall, I wanted a set of exercises that I could continue doing at home once my allotted PT sessions ended. And that's exactly what I got! I am very thankful to Dr. Julie for sharing her extensive knowledge with me, along with her positive and uplifting personality. I am happy to recommend Hess PT to anyone looking to feel better. "I saw Dan Haas here for the last couple months of my pregnancy. I was struggling with rib pain and a sciatic nerve issue and Dan was able to give me relief! I truly don’t know what I would have done without his prenatal massage over these weeks. He not only helped me physically, but also mentally and emotionally prepare for birth. His presence is calming and I’m very grateful for my experience working with him. Thank you, Dan!"

I've tried other PT practices but none have compared to this location in Kennedy Twp He seems genuinely to do everything he can to get me back to my favorite pastime- hiking! "Started with Hess and Dr. Eric because of shoulder surgery. Wasn't expecting much to rehabilitation, getting my shoulder/arm back to "normal" was the objective. Could not have asked for a better outcome. Dr. Eric puts you through your paces but the end result is well worth the effort. He's not afraid to try different techniques to move you along. That's the key, continued forward progress. Now the "broken" shoulder works better than the other one! If I ever need physical therapy again I'll only go to Hess and Dr. Eric."

"I had shoulder surgery in January for a nagging injury. I had met the principals of Hess PT at a social event last year and they impressed me as diligent and down to earth. With so many PT places to choose from, it can be difficult. I could not be happier with my choice. In 5 weeks, I have made great progress with Matt Melczak. He is personable, knowledgable, caring and a true professional. He explains the mechanism of each exercise and how it will benefit me personally. If I could give 10 stars, I would."

"Hello, I visited the office for 10 visits and the service was excellent. The physical therapists were very helpful and informative throughout the process. I wanted to go the PT route first prior to an orthopedic appointment and it was a good experience. I do believe I may eventually need surgery to correct the hip issue. In any case, it was very professional, and Eric was very good. Good luck with your visits to Hess!"

"I have been living with shoulder pain for six months when i saw an ad for a shoulder pain clinic at Hess p/t in kennedy twp. I signed up to see if they could help me and they are doing exactly that! Jenn, Julie, Dan, Van, Tyler are all professional, compassionate, and could not be nicer. Dr's Julie and Dan have been working with me for four weeks now with unbelievable results so far. My strength and range of motion have increased considerably and I am looking forward to a complete recovery. Thank you all very much!"

"I have been a patient at Hess PT under the care of Dr. Matt Melczak for the past four months. He worked on my hamstrings, my glutes, and my lower back. Dr. Matt diagnosed that the cause of the pain was Sciatica. When I started therapy I was in extreme pain it was difficult to stand on my left leg and I had difficulty sleeping. Dr. Matt was very patient and proceeded through progressive steps to strengthen and heal me. I am a new man pain free, strong, and mobile. I would recommend Dr .Matt and Hess Therapy to anyone needing therapy."

"Julie Thomas, PT, DPT, CEP is so kind and patient. I sustained a dog bite leaving me with significant nerve damage in my forearm and thumb (plus a 15 stitch scar). He’s excellent at listening and developing a comprehensive plan to relieve my specific issues and to provide stretches and guidance for me to help myself throughout the process. "I just wanted to inform everyone of the great physical therapists, aid and front office staff that Hess Physical Therapy has in Atlasburg. Joe, Jess, and Gloria are wonderful! They are very friendly while being efficient which makes them a terrific team. Their office is not only convenient but has great atmosphere. When looking for pt a close family friend recommended Joe. I completely understand why they did. My first session I was literally white knuckled and my hands were sweating because I was so nervous. I was needing pt on both my feet after a fractured ankle and pulled ligaments. Joe put me at ease while explaining the treatment plan. He is personable, patient and has expertise which helped me make huge progress. I am now well on my way with the recovery process. This is an excellent place to receive physical therapy. "I highly recommend Hess Physical Therapy in Bethel Park. I was prescribed PT for neck pain and migraines that I have been dealing with for 6+ years. Matt was extremely thorough and professional. In the evaluation, he was able to pinpoint a likely cause and come up with a program to improve. With only a three weeks of treatment, my symptoms improved significantly. Additionally, Matt helped evaluate my desk posture and give me a exercise program to retain my improvements."

"I visited Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton for an injured knee. From my first evaluation through my entire time at Hess's, Dr. Robert (Tyler) Boyd has been wonderful. He is a great listener, motivator, professional and is very knowledgeable. He explains what exercises are needed and how they help me. He has not only focused on my injured knee, but incorporated exercises to strengthen other parts of my leg to set me up for long-term success. From day 1, Dr. Tyler made me feel validated. After various Dr visits and inconclusive tests prior to PT, I greatly appreciated his acknowledgement and awareness of my pain levels and limited mobility. Not only that, but Dr. Tyler is hands on with your exercises, in getting to know you, and in celebrating your successes. Also, Heidi at the front desk set a high bar for my experience from my first call to schedule an appointment - kind, helpful and funny. The camaraderie at the Crafton office is so apparent. Cannot recommend Hess Physical Therapy enough!"

"I would highly recommend Hess Physical Therapy to everyone! Matt is phenomenal. He really takes the time to listen and learn all about of your history before starting anything. I have chronic headaches and could never pinpoint any contributing factors. However, within the first visit, he was able to evaluate me and determine multiple potential triggers. He also didn’t only focus on the area that was causing issues for me (head and neck), but everything around it to strengthen it moving forward and prevent the need for further PT. After just a few weeks of going to Matt and him slightly adjusting/increasing aspects the plan, my headaches and neck pain have reduced significantly. I am barely getting any headaches anymore! He also gives you exercises to take home and continue working on moving forward so that you don’t revert back. Both Matt and Jen are so fun and friendly, making the experience a great one!"

"Dr Eric is a great professional and an excellent physical therapist. I've been with many physical therapists and not a one of them had performed the outcomes I received through Hess and Dr. Eric. His, so to speak "bedside manners", are excellent. His initial evaluation was spot on and his follow up treatments/exercises did the trick. In a rather short amount of time by back/sciatica pain has been relieved. I was given printouts of therapy exercises to do at home... in short, I'm very pleased. I wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend Hess and in particular, Dr Eric. My go to physical therapist for any future needs."

"We started working with Dan Haas when I found out that my baby was breech. He helped my husband and me with spinning babies techniques and successfully got our baby to turn head down in just 5 days - right before our 37 week appointment! He continued to give weekly prenatal massages which were very relaxing as I had a lot of anxiety leading up to birth. He offered to doula our birth - my husband and I weren't sure at first since this was our 2nd child, however, we decided it would be great to have another advocate in the room. We did not regret it - Dan was amazing! He coached my husband on how to best support me and made sure I had everything I needed and was as comfortable as I could be. He communicated my needs to the nurse and staff to take that burden off of us. My husband says that he felt more involved in our 2nd child's birth than our 1st because Dan allowed him to be focused on my individual contractions and coached him how to best support me. My labor progressed very quickly - I had an unmedicated birth with staff running in at the last minute to help deliver the baby! After our daughter was born, I had great one-on-one time with her but was too uncomfortable to hold her during repairs, so her measurements were done during that time. Dan never left my side. It was great having him stay with me and comfort me while I was so uncomfortable and I felt supported while my husband could enjoy those first moments with our daughter during her measurements. My labor and delivery was so fast thanks to all of the prep work, spinning babies exercises to get baby into the right position, and relaxation from prenatal massages. I wouldn't change a thing about my birth - I felt I had an advocate, an extra voice, and so much support. We always say we couldn't have don it without Dan and we are so happy to have him a part of our daughter's birth story!"

"I went to Hess in Allison Park for problems in my right butt/hip area. When I came for my first appointment, I could hardly walk, sit, or even drive because I was in so much pain. I met with Dr. Eric, and I am so glad I did! Each session that I went to him, I loved that he taught me different exercises and listened each time as I would come in to where the pain was, and work on new exercises. I am so excited to report that in a matter of weeks, I am able to walk normally, sit comfortably, and drive without pain. He literally is amazing and really cared about helping me get back to normal. "Both my son and I have been in to see Dr. Eric and we've both seen pretty significant results. My son was having some minor back issues after an ultimate frisbee fall and I have had some ongoing muscular skeletal issues for years. My son's issues resolved after only a couple visits. My pain, being more severe and with a much longer history has not completely resolved but I have seen tremendous improvement. Dr. Eric has worked with me not only on exact area of pain (my jaw), but also on my overall posture which seems to be contributing to the discomfort. I'll also say, I really appreciate the individualized care at Hess. I've been to a handful of other physical therapy practices over the years and sometimes I was bounced around from therapist to therapist or I'd only spend a few minutes with the therapist before being shuttled off to the assistant to do my exercises. That's not the case at Hess where I always feel like my care is the priority during the time of my appointment."

"I had trouble getting an appointment at other places so a friend recommended Hess Physical Therapy and they accommodated me immediately. This was one of the best decisions I made. My physical therapist Dr. Tyler is wonderful! He pushes me while maintaining a great sense of humor. Dr. Tyler is very kind and knowledgeable. I ask him a lot of questions and he always takes his time to explain things to me. Dr. Gage is a great physical therapist that has a super funny sense of humor. He is also very knowledgeable and doesn’t mind helping me when needed. Heidi at the front desk is kind and considerate. She is the lynchpin that keeps the office humming and ties it all together. Everyone in this office is like a family. They have made it a great environment to get better. I know I can say after I finish my current therapy this will be a place I will return to when I need PT in the future."

"I tore my achilles in May of 2021 and did a long stint of physical therapy with a different practice. After that was finished, I got back into my training and picked up a new martial art - only to realize that I had some lingering weakness and issues caused by the injury. Gage and the staff helped me identify the problem, correct it, and then provided me with new movements and training to mix in with my regimen. "5 stars for Dan Haas! I used Dan Haas during my last pregnancy for prenatal massages. I also had the pleasure of having Dan be my doula when I delivered my baby. I had horrible pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand and arm. Dan worked on my carpal tunnel pain and greatly reduced the pain through his massage techniques. He also helped ease my back and hip pain. I also hired Dan to be my birth doula. Dan was a great doula as well. I had a complicated pregnancy and unexpectedly delivered my baby at 35 weeks. Dan was able to quickly get to the hospital when I needed him. Dan was there for me and comforted me during the whole delivery. He was very professional and followed all the visitor/doula guidelines at the hospital. I highly recommend Dan to any pregnant mama, whether it’s for prenatal massages or being their doula! "I would highly recommend Dr. Eric as a physical therapist to anyone who wants a therapist who is committed to helping a patient achieve their maximum potential regarding pain relief and function. My personal experience started earlier this year when my right shoulder (dominant one) became painful and very limited in terms of range of motion. I was diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) and was treated with an injection and given a script for PT. The pain was agonizing; not only did Dr. Eric with the help of Diane give me an immediate appointment, but they worked with me over a course of many physical therapy sessions to bring my shoulder back to a much improved functioning and pain free state allowing me to sleep without pain and be able to perform my usual activities with a remarkable improvement in my range of motion. I was given teaching on home exercises and a program to keep my shoulder functioning and pain free for the long term. I am highly satisfied with Dr. Eric's treatment of my shoulder and felt that his techniques and follow up are what made the difference. In addition, Diane was very helpful in giving me appointments which would work with my schedule and has been genuinely caring. "Hess PT is like no other physical therapy. Their philosophy is to address all the issues that are contributing to the pain, not just the site of the pain. I was having knee pain for 6 months, and as a result my gait was off, and I had developed pain in my whole leg. I. had been walking 3 miles a day, and when I started I was not able to walk down steps or even a small hill, and I was walking with a limp. Matt was able to understand all the mechanical issues that were going on with my knee and leg, and provided a well planned and precise therapy directed specifically for me. I can't believe it, but I can walk up and down steps with very little discomfort, I'm walking a mile a day, and feel sure as I continue with my strengthening I will continue to improve. I worked closely with Nicole who was wonderful as well! She guided me through all the exercises with consistent support. I appreciate both Matt, Nicole and the whole team. "Nothing but excellence from Dr. Eric and his crew! Each star represents one of the 5 C’s of Physical therapy. The first star is given for culture. From the first moment I stepped in the door my health was the number one concern. I quickly was able to grow a strong relationship with each member of the clinic. The next C stands for Creativity. I have been to many different PT locations and always seem to get the same type of treatment rather than be simple lunges or boring calf raises. However, at Hess PT I was able to get past the boring exercises and focus more on my core and other smaller things that can be causing my pain. The 3rd C stands for cleanliness. Physical therapy can be a little gross at times as you are constantly touching the same weights and using the same tables. That being said that’s not the case at Hess PT. There are cleaning wipes used on every piece of equipment after use. Also, the air in building smells fresh and cool. The 4th C stands for consideration. Dr. Eric is able to adapt to every kind of situation. He is able to help me, as a teen with back pain, then go help and elderly women who has troubles pushing her shopping carts. The last and most important C stands for communication. I have to say when I first met the staff I do not recall them stating their names but that was the only blunder that they showed in the communication field. I have not missed a single appointment as they always send reminders about dates and times. That can be attributed to the wonderful secretary who Is always extremely pleasant. Overall I would rate my experience here a 10/10 and highly recommend you let Hess PT lead you on your journey back to excellence!"

"I've had back pain for ~17 years and have seen multiple physical therapists. Dr. Matt Melczak at Hess PT took a different approach than I was used to and because of that, we were able to make large, significant improvements in just 2 months. He was able to zero-in on the exact source of the pain (something that previous PTs were unsuccessful with) & establish a 6-8 week program to address the pain ranging from my neck, through mid back, to my lower back by focusing on improvements in flexibility, mobility, and strength. "I have been suffering from hip issues and terrible pain for the past 1 year starting from february of 2021. I had multiple consults between multiple orthopedic doctors , orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists at all the hospitals in the region . I was unable to get a correct plan from any of the physical therapists regarding the pain as the ortho doctors were suggesting a hip replacement but the ortho surgeons were against a hip replacement due to my relatively younger age and whatever the PT were suggesting was actually not getting rid of the pain. Oct 2021 I had a consult with Dr. Eric that included some deep tissue massage , back alignments and was very satisfied with the PT plan that he came up with . February of 2022 I am almost completely pain free and very happy that I was able to .work with Dr Eric . Dr. Eric is best in the area."

"I met with Dan regularly for the last trimester of my pregnancy and I can't say enough great things! He spent time on Spinning Babies to help my baby turn into the best birthing position. "Had major surgery on my right shoulder mid-December 2021. After 5 days in the sling it was time for physical therapy. It was recommended that I go to Hess because of a former patients testimony about this place. What a transformation from my first visit to the last. I didn't think that I would ever have the mobility and strength brought back as quickly as I did. Dr. Eric and Kelly were both instrumental in my recovery, I felt a sense of accomplishment on each and every visit. They took a personal interest in my getting back to a more mobile and stronger shoulder. It was a relationship that I didn't receive at other PT offices. I enjoyed Dr. Eric changing the workouts to make it interesting and challenging, it never was stale. Though it wasn't always easy it was was worth every second to know that our focus and goal was to allow me to enjoy my life after surgery and not be in pain or immobile. "I've been dealing with what I called "sleep injuries" for a long while — I'd wake up in the morning with neck, back, and shoulder pain for no good reason. In January, I had such bad pain and hand numbness that I finally went to a doctor and she referred me to physical therapy. When I first went to see Dr. Eric, I couldn't use a knife and fork or drive without being in pain. Now, a month later, I'm 80%+ better with improved mobility and posture and very little pain and stiffness. My hand isn't numb anymore and the tingling is almost gone. The combination of massage, strength training, and functional mobility exercises have made such a huge improvement and I'm surprised every day by how much of a difference I've seen and felt. Dr. Eric and Kelly are both friendly and welcoming, and despite the experience not always being the most comfortable — those muscle knots are no joke! — I've been grateful for their help. I'd recommend going to them for your physical therapy needs and I wish I'd gone in sooner!"

"I went to Hess Physical Therapy for back pain which was preventing me from doing basic activities like driving, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. I also strive to workout 4 or 5 times a week which wasn't possible due to my back pain. Dr. Eric gave me significant pain relief within the first few weeks of treatment which allowed me to resume all of my normal activities, including my workout routine. I've been to physical therapy over the years for various issues but my experience at Hess was by far the best. Dr. Eric gives you personal attention during your entire therapy session. I've been to other physical therapy clinics where they've had me basically go through the exercises with very little supervision. Dr. Eric was the exact opposite in that he supervised all of my exercises which allowed him to correct any mistakes I was making. He's also a very "hands on" therapist in terms of the manual work he does. He stretched me out and did a number of manipulations to correct my misalignments. He's very knowledgeable and also just a super nice guy. Kelly oversees the front of the clinic and she does a wonderful job scheduling and making you feel welcome. She also helped work me into the schedule several times when I had scheduling conflicts. I would recommend Dr. Eric and Kelly to any of my family or friends that might need physical therapy."

"I had another TKR in Dec. 2021, without hesitation I came to Hess PT in Kennedy Twp. again. Was here 7 years ago for other knee, wouldn’t go anywhere else. "Dr Eric is simply the best physical therapist, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. I started experiencing sciatica pain on one side and overall muscle pain/weakness 5 months ago, that prevented me from running. Running isn’t just exercise for me. It grounds me and calms my mind, no matter how chaotic life can get. So I was at an extremely low point in my life 7 wks ago when I started PT, both physically and mentally. Dr Eric is patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. Based on the initial evaluation, which isn’t rushed, he creates an individual action plan to get you back on your feet. Mine wasn’t targeted only to the symptoms, but also to helping me get back to running. He’s really hands on and gradually empowers you to understand what your body is telling you when you’re in pain and use the tools that you’ve learned to help yourself. I started running again after 3wks of PT with Dr Eric. There were good days and bad at first, but he helped me work through the bad days, strengthen areas where I was weak, and understand signs where my lower back was compensating that I would have previously ignored. I feel stronger than I have in a really long time and am back to running daily. Thankfully I now know how to manage the sciatica symptoms if/when it flares up and don’t have to stop running again when it does."

"I had right total knee replacement December 20, 2021. Being new to the area, I asked a neighbor where she was receiving her therapy. She stated Hess PT in Allison Park and is so pleased with her experience. I have had PT in the past for a prior L total knee replacement. I became disappointed finding that I was one of many patients being treated. It usually was a different therapist each visit. I decided to give Hess a try. My wife called to schedule and left a message. To our surprise, a call back was within minutes. I was scheduled and met Eric, the therapist for me. "I had carpal tunnel release surgery and then fell and injured the same hand :/ My doctor prescribed PT for range of motion on that wrist. Dr Gage did a great job of evaluating my wrists, elbows, shoulders to understand that there was more to my case than just a limited wrist range of motion. "I just want to testify to how great Hess Physical Therapy is. Kelly and Dr. Eric are both awesome people, very personable, very outgoing, easy to talk to but most important of all they are excellent at their respective jobs. Kelly handled all my insurance needs quickly and competently, she let me know what was covered and what wasn't and what my costs were going to be. She made the paperwork and questionnaires easy to do and she also patiently managed to help me schedule appointments around my busy schedule which is no easy task, always with a smile and a great attitude. Then there's Dr. Eric! I had arthritis in both knees and he told me right away that if I did what he asked that for sure I would be stronger at the end but that he couldn't guarantee that my pain would be gone. Well my right knee is 95 % back to normal and my Left knee is definitely improving but still gives me pain. Like Dr. Eric says though, my knees didn't get this bad overnight so it may take some time. He amazes me with his knowledge of human anatomy but even more than that is his ability to actually listen to what you say and put it to use. Every day he asks how you are and what changes you have noticed then you can see him think about what you said and maybe right then and maybe 5 minutes later he will modify what you are doing based on what you told him, and guess what? It works!!! I never had much faith in foam rolling or stretches but they actually work. You can tell he is compassionate and really cares about his patients by the time he takes with each person he sees. He answers all and any questions you have and takes the time to make sure you understand what he has said, and the same with anything he sends you ho me to do. As the public face of Hess, Kelly and Dr. Eric are truly great assets to this business and I would recommend them to anyone for their physical therapy needs."

"Following my second rotator cuff repair surgery within 7 years, I started PT with Dr. Eric on the recommendation from a neighbor. Thanks to Dr. Eric I was able to regain full range of motion and strength much quicker than after my first surgery. I did however suffer a setback during my shoulder therapy due to lower back and neck pain. He switched the therapy to resolve my back pain in a short amount of time and then continued therapy on my shoulder. I know from my first surgery and from my surgeon that it takes up to a year to fully recover and because of Dr. Eric I’m well on my way. I highly recommend to anyone suffering from pain and in need of therapy to consult with Dr. Eric at Hess Physical Therapy. You won’t regret it. "I've gone to the big hospital run rehab centers. . I've seen one Therapist dealing with 8-10 people. At Hess the most iIve seen is 3 at stagered start times. most of my appointments there is 1-2, patient. You get personalized Hands on service. The Therapist I see is Dr. Eric he is not only a certified Therapist but also a Chiropractor.. I like his approach . I've gotten deep tissue massages, Stim which is electrical stimulation of the area, heat therapy, and standard massages. Not everytime but as needed Hess also offers a free evaluation. "My husband and I found out at our 36 week OB appointment that baby was not head down. We then found Dan Haas and worked with him for the Spinning Babies Parent Class. He taught us all of the techniques for Spinning Babies, working with us hands on, and gave us advice on how to use the techniques over the next few days to get baby to turn. "I injured my lower spine this past winter and have been experiencing considerable pain off and on over the past few months. X-Rays showed issues with L4, L5 & S1. Dr. Eric Steglmeier reviewed the prognosis from the x-ray information that I provided him along with that from my PCP. After that, Eric asked me to explain in detail exactly how my injury was affecting me. From that information Eric started out with basics to strengthen my core and to better understand the issues I was having. With each session, Eric made adjustments after discussing my fitness and reviewing any changes to my condition. After 20 sessions and following home exercises as prescribed by Dr. Eric I can honestly say that I'm feeling substantially better than I've felt in the past 4 months. Eric illustrates that he is exceptionally knowledgeable and cares for the well- being of his patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Eric to everyone experiencing back or other related injuries that require physical therapy. "I’m being treated by Dr Eric for an old, recurring, I T BAND problem. My prescribing Dr advised me that we could try PT but I might just have to accept living with the discomfort. Dr Eric has accepted the challenge and we are making progress that I wasn’t sure would be attainable. It is remarkable to watch Him as he works. He has a doctorate in PT and has attended advanced post-graduate courses He is personable, great at answering questions, and truly cares about his patients.  His evaluations and methods are not the same as that of the typical PT. But they work. He knows the body and provides critical stretching and exercises specific to his patients without overwhelming them with numerous homework techniques that often discourages them from helping themselves. "I chose Hess PT after being diagnosed with a rare disease (diabetic amyotrophy) which damaged the nerves in my right leg and left it largely paralyzed. Upon entering Hess PT, Dr. Eric Steglmeier researched this rare disease and formulated a treatment plan. "I had a TKR of the the left knee in May 2021. My recovery was much slower than expected. When I started with Hess in early June, my knee bend was only 65. Thanks to Dr. Eric, Kelly and Josh, I have gained strength, flexibility and my knee bend is 110 and I am confident it will increase. Dr. Eric is extremely knowledgeable and personable. "I was placed at Hess Physical Therapy in Allison Park for my first clinical rotation. I cannot express enough how good of an experience it has been. Not only as a learning environment, but also the general atmosphere. It's a very laid back clinic but still very efficient. Dr. Eric is a fantastic clinician and teacher. I learned a lot in the classroom, but being able to work under Dr. Eric has given me even more tools to use in the clinic and has made me a more critical thinker when it comes to assessment, treatment, and patient management. Kelly Is a great PTA and was always there to help me in the clinic when things got too busy to handle. "I have had a lot of surgeries and a lot of physical therapy in my life but this place is the very best ever- and I loved going there! I had my knee partially replaced in Florida this past winter- it did not go well, I apparently formed scar tissue against the new knee implant and it was extremely painful. I stayed in Florida for 4 months trying to find a solution, the best they could do was a technique called Graston and it helped but was not the total answer. I had to return home to Pittsburgh and I googled scar tissue mobilization - Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton and Dan Haas' name came right up. It was very convenient for me so I started with them. What a good decision- Dan used ASTYM- a newer scar tissue technique, and it helped immensely. Dr Gage is a young breath of fresh air, he really knows his stuff and gets right to the root of the problem or problems in my case. It is a friendly, welcoming and healing place...."

"Finding Hess Physical Therapy was the best place for me to recuperate from my hip replacement surgery. I initially chose it because it was conveniently located, but also I asked some people I knew that had gone there if they were satisfied and they had only glowing reviews. I came to completely agree with them during my entire time working with this facility. The atmosphere was very upbeat. I was cheerfully greeted by everyone I encountered, beginning with Michelle at the front desk. "An MRI indicated that I had a herniated disk in my back. My PCP recommended physical therapy rather than surgery as a first option (surgery if the PT was not successful). I am happy to report that my PT worked. At my first visit to your office I was evaluated by Dr. Gage. He laid out a plan for me that was perfect. "This is my first time doing ART therapy(Active Release Therapy) and I have pain in both my neck and my back that typically stays at about an 8 out of 10 pain scale and I have never really gotten long term relief and the first time I did ART I was PAIN FREE FOR 5 DAYS. "In December 2010, I experienced a severe compound fracture of my left tibia and had two plates and 23 titanium screws implanted to promote healing. The presence of this hardware resulted in daily pulsing nerve pain emanating from the toes of my left foot, which I was unable to relieve for over a decade. I saw the ad for pain management from Hess Therapy who had an office in my Allison Park neighborhood, made an appointment, attended a preliminary evaluation session in April of 2021and soon thereafter began treatment. Within 2 visits, the foot pain began to ease and after six weeks of treatment I feel that this problem has been 90% alleviated, thanks to Dr. Eric Stiglmeier's excellent therapy program. My balance skills have also improved significantly as well. Dr. Eric's skills as a therapist are remarkable to observe. He is a multi-tasker, easily directing therapy programs for two or sometimes three patients at a time, providing hands-on massage techniques to one patient while correcting exercise techniques on another. He has excellent people skills, motivating each patient in a manner that best encourages each to achieve optimal results from exercise routines prescribed by him. I have been promoting Dr. Eric to the folks in my senior men's fellowship at our weekly meetings, resulting thus far in one new Hess Therapy patient and the possibility of many more if my selling skills are still on par. "Since Sept 2018, I've had intensifying pains in my lower back following a knee surgery and the doctors couldn't find me any relief, including back surgery. After countless therapies, I gave Active Release therapy, and I've been able to maintain my low pain levels for several months with only minor flare ups. I would highly recommend Daniel Haas for Active Release therapy if you haven't been able to find any pain relief, especially if you're not able to take pharmaceuticals. I was sleeping with an ice pack and taking pain killers 24/7. An MRI pretty much pointed to shoulder surgery which I was avoiding like the COVID! I got a flier in the mail from Hess Physical Therapy and thought what the heck -I’ll give it a try. During my initial consultation with Eric he examined me and pretty much called out everything the MRI told us. Six weeks later my shoulder is almost totally pain-free. I will never have completely pain free due to my age (63) and the damage done from my injury but I am 150% better than my first visit! No more ice packs, no more pain killers! "I had foot surgery to repair an injury in 2019 and went to a different PT practice in Allison Park at that time. The previous therapist ended up getting way too aggressive and ended up breaking one of my toes in the process. This required yet another foot surgery this year to repair the previous PT's damage. I chose Hess PT this time and my only regret was not using them originally back in 2019 as I would have saved myself a second surgery. Dr. Eric pushed me beyond what I would normally push myself but also understands what is too far. Both Dr. Eric and Allison were great to work with. The practice is tucked off of Route 8, so it's not real visible, but I would definitely recommend checking it out."

I have hardware in my back from surgery that did correct my curve almost 25 years ago, however as I have gotten older daily tasks has become a burden because of the pain. My back doctor suggested physical therapy a few times but I honestly didn’t think I would benefit from it so never went until recently. I’m so glad I did. "I went toHess physical therapy because of my left shoulder. Extremely painful and with limited motion and weak. I didn’t have high hopes cause I’ve been to therapy before for approximately 1&half years. I’ve got distonia and it has been getting worse as time goes on. It was from a Prescription called Regan. Anyway I met with Dr. Eric and made several observations and told me what he could help me with and how. I figured what the heck I’ll try anything at this point My next neurologist appointment wasn’t til May. Looked like another pill. We started slow and easy as to not cause any pain. He moved my arm in various ways checking my range of motion without pain. Then began with various stretching motions and continued to add more stretching movement to the plan he kept adding more and different stretching exercises things start improving rather quickly in the. I’ll make a long story short I couldn’t be more happy with the the improvements have gotten my pain level has decreased by half my range of motion has increased by Jabal my strength has doubled I feel so much better. I feel like there’s actually hope for me and my goal is to take up golf again and I’ll see either air might be a good chance there’s a light there and I’m not near as depressed as I once was as I know that he’s take me on the right journey of very happy to have met his acquaintance and have his professional guidance I don’t know what I’ve done with time I personally know him a great deal of gratitude and thanks and Allison two she’s been a big help. I plan on continuing done the road he’s leaving me in hopes that this summer I’ll be able to pick up a set of golf clubs and they have a swing halfway decent I thought pain."

Unfortunately, those countless therapist really never helped so I continued to suffer. "I have been seeing Dr. Eric for several weeks now! He and his care TRUELY is a Blessing! I came to Dr. Eric with Rheumatoid Arthritis with much pain both in my neck and shoulders with very little range of motion, barely able to turn my neck or raise and use my arms! Dr Eric has changed that for me, I know have new strength in my arms and my neck is now more flexible , able to go from side to side for first time in a very long time!!!!! I am a very active person who, for the past 6 months has not been able to exercise or do the things that I love. My sciatic pain was so intense and after attending a few sessions at a UPMC facility, I felt no relief. I was skeptical about going to another PT Clinic. "There are no words to describe the pain I was in, when I started at Hess. I would sit on my couch and tears would pour from my eyes.....Dr. Jess, Gage, Riley and Dan worked with me for 6 weeks. "Dr. Eric is an excellent physical therapist. I have been active in athletics all my life so I’ve had my share of injuries. Physical therapy has saved me and allowed to continue my passion for exercise. Dr Eric is one of the best physical therapists I’ve worked with. He assessed the cause of my injury and patiently massaged, stretched and rotated the area that created the pain. My condition improved within a few visits. "I went to Hess's due to moderate to severe lower back pain (left side). The staff is extremely professional, Dr Matt and therapist Kelly (both primarily) along with Dr Van and Diane, did an extremely thorough job helping me. The stimulations along with a specifically designed exercises had major positive effects on my back problem. They were able to adress a longstanding balance problem due to MS with which I was diagnosed over 25 years ago. I would recommend them to anyone who has any physical therapy needs and am very happy with the results."

"I have been attending physical therapy with Dr. Eric at Hess Physical therapy for four weeks. Dr. Eric has done an outstanding job. He is very knowledgable and patient. He did an evaluation of my condition and tailored my exercises to my individual needs and weaknesses. As time went on, he changed up my exercises to challenge me and build my strength. A torn tendon in my elbow and a deficiency in strength in my rotator cuff in 2020. With my knee replacement my therapists were Megan and Ian. And for my elbow and rotator cuff I've had Jess as my therapist. Through it all my therapists have been knowledgeable, encouraging, friendly, and caring. "Over the years I have had physical therapy for a variety of body parts over a 15-year span. Some of this therapy was for injuries and some of it was post-operative. However, I have never had a physical therapy experience such as the one I have had at Hess Physical Therapy. The therapist was extremely knowledgeable of the muscular skeletal system and how to use this in therapy for my improvement. What impressed me the most with how Dr. Eric evaluated me and was using therapy to help improve other underlying issues I have, such as balance issues and my gait. "I have been a patient there since 10/7/20. Eight visits thus far. I have several tears to the tendons in the right shoulder Rotator Cuff. I brought my MRI for Eric to review and he assured me that things could get better with PT under his care. I have a lot of confidence in his expertise with getting me a lot better than I am now. I made progress after just several visits and I can sleep on that shoulder without pain for the first time in about 18 months. Eric has very good interpersonal skills with his patients and really cares about their progress. He is a real asset to Hess PT. I have found the office staff (Allison) to be very helpful in scheduling appointments to coincide with my schedule. She is a friendly face to greet you as you enter. "I found both Eric and Drew to be very knowledgeable in their field. They were able to answer my questions in terms I could understand, as well as locate the real source of my pain with suggestions for improvement. The many different exercises worked on different parts of my body. I never realized that my poor posture and inactivity were factors causing my pain. Gradually I became more aware of my body parts. The set of papers with recommendations to do at home were very helpful. I'm grateful for their inspiring confidence in myself which motivated me to exert myself more, and achieve my goal of eliminating my pain. I actually look forward to keeping my appointments knowing that I would feel better the next day. Both men used their sense of humor to relax me while in class, and perform better. I would recommend Hess Physical Therapy to others. In fact, I shared much of what I learned with another person where I live. All of this would have been possible if it were not for the open house they offered a month ago in which Eric gave an excellent presentation about overcoming pain and imbalance. I'm glad I came. "I sustained an injury to my bicep and shoulder during a fall about a year ago. For months, I just dealt with the pain. This summer, I saw an ad on Facebook for a free clinic for shoulder pain evaluation. After attending the clinic, I started therapy with Dr. Eric- he is both professional and knowledgeable. His initial evaluation was thorough. He listened to my concerns while performing his asssessment. Through massage, manipulation and strength exercises, the pain has subsided.
